Learnt waka drills

At the start of the year we learnt waka drills. It was hard learning waka drills and the more we got better it got easier and easier. It was fun some time and the other times it was hard. But in the end we got really good and we are going to row a waka at the 1 and 15 of April.

Kaupapa Waka

This week we have work on our kaupapa waka slides. The name of my waka is Ngatokimatawhaorua. My waka can hold up to 80 paddlers and 55 more people. My waka's Kaihautū was Nukutawhiti. Hm and his group of people rowing the waka rowed from hawaiki to New Zealand they landed in Ngapuhi. My waka is the largest waka on earth.  Nukutawhiti gave Ngatokimatawhaorua its name before that it was called Matawhaorua.
